15 September 2020, GDI (Great Dyke Investments) is progressing with the works of the new mining complex for which FATA EPC and GDI has signed a LSTK contract for the construction of the relevant concentrator plant of the new Platinum Group Metal mine of Darwendale. GDI is a Joint Venture established on 50/50 basis between a subsidiary of the Russian Vi Holding and a VI Zimbabwean Partner.

The deposit is located in the Mashonaland West Province of the Republic of Zimbabwe, along the Great Dyke, a geological feature that is one of the world’s largest deposits of PGM resources.

The concentrator plant will process 280,000 dry tonnes run of mine ore per month to produce approximately 6,440 tonnes per month of dry concentrate cake. The process utilizes a Mill-Mill-Float type configuration consisting of:

  • primary SAG Mill with pebble crushing circuit, secondary Ball Mill, tertiary Vertical Mill,

  • rougher, scavenger and cleaner flotation,

  • concentrate thickening, filtration, tailings thickening,

  • associated supporting infrastructure.
