New, important step for the Tyrrhenian Link, Terna’s infrastructure which will be carried out by the Temporary Business Grouping (RTI) between Fata SpA and Siemens, which with its 970 kilometers of length will connect Sardinia, Sicily and Campania. The Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security, with a decree dated 5 September 2023, has authorized also the second section, the western one which will connect Sicily and Sardinia.
With the receipt of the Notice to Proceed for both sections and the start of the first activities, the Temporary Business Grouping (RTI) between Fata SpA and Siemens proceeds according to plan in the execution of the project whose completion is expected by the end of 2028.
This fundamental project for the Italian electricity system, which falls within the energy transition objectives set by the National Integrated Plan for Energy and Climate (PNIEC), will contribute to achieving the phase-out goal from coal by increasing transport capacity, enhancing the security, adequacy and flexibility of the national electricity transmission grid and promoting the integration of the domestic market and renewable sources. Fata SpA therefore confirms itself as one of the most important Italian companies in the energy and plant engineering sector, as well as a reference player in supporting the ecological and energy transition underway in our country.
